Assistance Is Offered with Recreation Ball Fees
Sunrise Ministries is starting a fund for children who qualify for financial assistance for activities at the recreation department, according to Recreation Director Wes Chester.
Although the deadline for registration for baseball and softball has passed, Mr. Chester said parents may still register children up until uniforms are ordered, however, a $15 late fee will apply
For those who have not registered because funding is a problem, applications will be taken this Saturday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sunrise Thrift Store on the Square.
In order to register a child under this program, proof of income, proof of residence and a social security card will be required.
Scholarships will be awarded to all who qualify if funds allow. Otherwise, a drawing will be held.
Sunrise Ministries may be reached by phone at 706-468-1178. Anyone wanting to sponsor children through this program may make tax deductible donations by calling this number.
Mr. Chester also informed that registration for a Soccer League, where skills will be emphasized, will begin on April 11, and players may be registered at the recreation department March 1 through April 1, with a registration fee of $25.
