Willie Henry Daniel

Funeral services for Willie Henry Daniel who died January 31, were held February 6 at the Morgan County Church of Christ in Madison. Wesley R. Brown officiated; burial was in the Jefferson Baptist Church Cemetery in Eatonton.

Mr. Daniel was born in Putnam County on June 24, 1945. He was the first of children born to the late Walter Lee and Mary Elizabeth Daniel.

As a young man, he was baptized at Jefferson Baptist Church in Eatonton. Mr. Daniel was educated at Butler Baker school where upon graduating he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam for three years. Upon returning from the military, he married Fannie Bell on September 17, 1967. The union brought forth two children, Eric and Chastity Daniel.

A hard working man all his life, Mr. Daniel had numerous jobs, and worked at Atlantic Steel Company for 25 years until its doors closed in 1998.

During his free time, Mr. Daniel had many hobbies that included collecting comic books, fishing, watching classic westerns and enjoying the games of the Atlanta Braves and Hawks, and the sport of NASCAR racing. An avid fan of blues music, he had a passion so great that he was determined to learn how to play the harmonica. Whether he was in the house, outside in his car or even in the hospital, he had to have his harmonica near his side.

Survivors include Mrs. Fannie Bell Daniel; two children, Eric Daniel of Covington and Chastity Daniel of Decatur; a granddaughter, Erin Zhane Daniel; a brother, Curtis Lee Daniel of Decatur; three sisters, Juanita Dixon of Decatur, Melissa Brush of Houston, Tex. and Valerie Hurt of Eatonton, and a number of other relatives.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.
