Several Burglaries Are Reported Here

Residents of Liberty Drive reported a non-forced-entry burglary on January 25 in which property worth approximately $2,700 was taken.
Missing merchandise includes a Kenmore refrigerator, a Craftsman garden tiller, a trampoline, floor tile, a Skill handsaw and a Barbie Doll Collection, according to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

Also reported was a burglary on Hill Street in Shady Dale on January 28 in which a Troy-Bilt four cycle backpack blower, a window and a door were taken.

The JCSO also reported the following criminal activity in the county from the period of January 24 through 31:

•Auto entered on Swan Court and a Taurus handgun and two GPS units were taken.

•Auto entered on Crane Court where a Rockford Fox Gate AM radio and Pioneer speakers were taken.

•A Rossi 38 Cal. Revolver and a nylon holster were reported stolen on January 24, on Hwy. 142 in Shady Dale.

•An AMA AC unit, a Diamond Tool Box, a 10 foot logging chain, a cable sling and Black & Decker tools valued at over $4,200 were reported stolen on January 26 from J.H. Whitaker Road.

•Central heating and air units valued at $10,000 were reported stolen on January 26, on J. H. Whittaker Road in Newborn.

•An Apple silver Ipod in a pink case valued at $260 was reported stolen on January 24 at Jasper County High School.

•Jewelry valued at $6,000 was reported missing from a residence on Ernest Gibson Road on January 30.

•A child’s motorcycle was reported stolen on January 27 from a residence on Post road. A juvenile was later arrested.

•A homemade utility trailer was reported stolen on January 25 from a residence on Deer Run Circle, which was later located on J.H Whitaker Rd.

Also, the JCSO reported the following arrests for the period of January 26 through February 2:

•Myles Xaiver Campbell, 19, Monticello—theft by receiving stolen property.

•Jeffery Alan Custer, 29, Monticello—probation violation.

•Trenton Shamir Gude, 26, Shady Dale—obstruction or hindering law enforcement and giving false name or address to a law enforcement officer.

•Russell Thomas Gann, 58, Jackson—deposit account fraud (two counts).

•Gale Wayne Wright, Jr., 26, Monticello—hold for warrant in Newton County.

•Dana Sterling George, 37, Newborn—probation violation.

•John Bradley Enrique, 19, Monticello—
possession/manufacture/distribution of a controlled substance and theft by receiving stolen property.

•Jimmy Lee Jackson, 47, Monticello—parole violation.

•James Lawrence Johnson, 51, Monticello—probation violation.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 114 calls for service including 22 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 12 alarm, 10 theft by taking, eight each pickup prisoner and subject needs officer, seven mechanical break down, six assist motorist, four argument, three each juvenile complaint and trouble unknown, two each fire/structure, four wheeler, discharge firearms, possible suicide, music/noise complaint and attempt to serve warrant, one each numerous other calls.

Also during this period, the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

•Charles Edward Lynch, 49, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Mark Edward Pringle, 27, Covington—driving while license suspended or revoked, probation violation and seatbelt violation.

•Bobby Gorman Peppers, 38, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

•Milton Henry Jeffery, Sr., 40, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

•Willie Charles Driskell, 45, Monticello—abandonment of dependent child and disorderly conduct.

In addition, during this period officers with the MPD responded to 47 calls for service including 15 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, four subject needs officer, two each alarm, accident and intoxicated driver, one each burglary, domestic, assist motorist, intoxicated pedestrian, mechanical break down, chest pain, miscellaneous EMS, pregnancy, assault, extra patrol, child custody case, counterfeit, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, possible suicide, vandalism of property, checking location argument, identity fraud/theft and 911 hang up, fight, prowler report, miscellaneous EMS, rape, missing person, counterfeit, road rage, threatening/harassing calls, property found, vandalism of property, checking location, road hazard, fraud/theft by deceiving, utility department needed and 911 hand up.
