Reward Is Offered for Stolen ATVs

Seven four-wheelers of varying types and one dirt bike were recently stolen from a private residence on King Plow Road.

A reward of $3,000 for information leading to the recovery of the vehicles, and an additional $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators is being offered by the owner.

The theft was discovered by caretakers at the residence on January 7, and it had to take place sometime in the 24 hours prior to then.
A spokesman for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), on January 18, said no arrests have been made and the crime is under investigation. However, they did request anyone with information about the incident to call the JCSO at 706-468-4912, or the anonymous tips line at 706-468-tips (8477).

Also, during the period of January 11 through 14, the JCSO reported the following arrests:

William Matthew Smith, 20, Oxford—theft by receiving stolen property, removing or affixing license plate with intent to conceal.

Marcus Mandress Campbell, 29, Monticello—probation violation.

Christopher Chicory Stone, 27, Monticello—child support and probation violation.

Andrew Cane Geiger, 17, Monticello—underage possession of a pistol.

Dimitrik Robinson, 46, Monticello—probation violation.

During this same time period deputies with the JCSO responded to 194 calls for service including 31 subject needs officer, 28 escort or convoy, 16 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 14 mechanical breakdown, 13 burglary, 12 alarm, 10 accident, nine four-wheeler, six assist motorist, four each welfare check, child custody case, juvenile complaint, threatening/harassing calls and road hazard, three each theft by taking, extra patrol, vandalism of property and transport of patient, two each domestic, speeding auto, pickup prisoner, possible suicide, abandoned vehicle and 911 hang up, one each dog disturbance, fire/vehicle, sick, cardiac arrest, child abuse/molestation, private property, shoplifter, checking location, argument, seizure and persons refuse to leave.

Also during this period, the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

Kiefer Wayne Wood, 17, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

Keaton Fredrick Ring, 18, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

Charleston Jermaine Russell, 25, Shady Dale—probation violation.
Myra Ann Prevatt, 24, Monticello—theft by shoplifting.

Gary Andre Thurman, 39, Monticello—public drunk.

Tommy Lee Rooks, 52, Monticello—public drunk.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 61 calls for service including 13 escort or convoy, 12 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 11 subject needs officer, five alarm, two each accident, mechanical breakdown, theft by taking, child custody case and trouble unknown, one each burglary, intoxicated driver, welfare check, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, sick, seizure and shoplifter.
