Lewis Williams
Lewis Williams, 63, of Monticello died December 29, 2010.
Mr. Williams was born December 29, 1947 in Haddock to the late John and Juanita Williams.
He moved to Detroit, Mich. and graduated from Pershing High School in 1965.
Mr. Williams was employed at Chrysler Motor Company, and at Georgia Pacific after relocating to Georgia.
Mr. Williams married Betty Rooks August 26, 1989. The couple had one son, Adones Khary Williams and there were three other children, Ramon, Meko, and Gashia Campbell.
Mr. Williams was a member of New Life Outreach Christian Center in Eatonton and enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music, and football and basketball with his wife, whom he turned into a “sports queen.”
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were a son, Lewis Omar White; a sister, Coraine Jones; and brothers, Willie, Roger, Harry Curtis, and Carl, also a brother-in-law, Odele Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Williams; a son, Adones Williams; step-sons and spouses, Ramon and Pamela Campbell, Meko and Chris Campbell; two daughters, Martise Rough and Meousha White; a step-daughter, Gashia Campbell; grandchildren, Tiffany, Martec, Christpher, Derek, Anasia, Natalia, Orean, and La’Nia; brothers, Walter of Goodells Mich. Donald, Terry, and Jerome, of Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Johnny Peal Delores, and Mildred, all of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
A service is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 6 at 1 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Chruch, 514 Funderburg Drive, Monticello. Reverend Donna Marie Calix, pastor.Rev. James Kilgore, Sr., is to officiate. Burial will be in South View Cemetery.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
