John Lee “J.L.” Ozburn
John Lee “J.L.” Ozburn, 89, of Monticello, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Newton General Hospital in Covington.
Mr. Ozburn was a lifelong resident of Monticello. His parents were the late Emory Newt Ozburn and Gladys Hodge Ozburn. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Before retirement, J.L. Ozburn was a mechanic for Southern Railroad.
His wife, Odessa Conner Ozburn preceded him in death. Also, brothers, Edwin Ozburn and Melvin Ozburn, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Larry Fielding of Monticello; granddaughter, Ashley Fielding of Monticello; brother and sister, Lanier Ozburn of Monticello and Eloise Riner of Atlanta; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are planned for Friday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello, with burial in West View Cemetery in Monticello. Dr. John Brown will officiate. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service at the funeral home.
His nephews will be pallbearers.
