Businesses May Close for Holiday

Monticello City Hall and the Jasper County Courthouse will be closed tomorrow, Dec. 31, for the New Year’s holiday.

Since New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday when the government offices are normally closed, the employees get the Friday before as their holiday.

Some businesses, including The Monticello News, will also close on Friday this week, in observance of New Year’s.

Others will not close at all, or will close Saturday only. Local banks have said they will be open regular hours Friday and closed Saturday.

Most retail businesses will be open regular hours.
