Nine Are Arrested in Drug Bust
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) arrested nine individuals on felony drug charges Friday in the Alcovy Shores area.
Charged with the sale of Hydrocodonde, a schedule III controlled substance, were William Joseph Biddy (two counts), Albert Scott Sorrells (two counts), Steven Kelly Brownlee, Myron Kenneth Brewer, Kandy Annette Fite, Mary Ann Cleveland and Lisa Darlene Biddy.
Also, David Chuck Pickett was charged with two counts of sale of oxycodone, a schedule II drug, and Brianna Michelle Pickett was charged with sale of Alprazolam, a schedule IV drug.
All of the above mentioned individuals have had bond denied and had their cases transferred to Superior Court where a Superior Court Judge has to be petitioned for bond.
According to the JCSO other charges are still pending and other arrests may be forthcoming. Also, according to the JCSO, these arrests wrap up a two month long investigation of the unlawful sale of prescription medications which has become a large problem in the county and the state. The JCSO also warns the danger associated with someone selling a prescription medication to another person could cause a serious drug reaction or even death.
Other arrests reported by the JCSO for the period of December 7 through 14 include the following:

•Michael Forrest Cook, 20, Monticello—probation violation.
•Matthew Conan Barber, 26, Monticello—hold for warrant in Newton Co.
•Joshua Javon Campbell, 21, Monticello—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers and possession of marijauana.
•Brittany Rachel Tenney, 20, Concord, N.C.—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain lane.
Sarah Elaine Collins, 21, onticello—probation violation and deposit account fraud.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 122 calls for service including 14 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 13 alarm, 10 subject needs officer, nine mechanical breakdown, seven accident six assist motorist, five each theft by taking, trouble unknown and road hazard, four each livestock on road, discharge firearms and persons refuse to leave, three each abandoned vehicle and attempt to serve warrant, two each burglary, fire/structure, welfare check and threatening/harassing calls, one each fight, dog disturbance, domestic, suicide or attempt, intoxicated driver, intoxicated pedestrian, escort or convoy, be on the look out, miscellaneous ems, juvenile complaint, possible suicide, shoplifter, vandalism of property, checking location, request DNR, forgery, lost property, identity fraud/theft, 911 hang up and transport of patient.
Also, during this same period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
Ray Banks, 52, Monticello—driving while license suspended or revoked and transactions in drug related objects.
Kenneth Anthony Thurman, 47, Monticello—disorderly conduct and open container.
Calvin Lamar Davis, 40, Miami, Fla.—theft by deception.
In addition, during this period officers with the MPD responded to 52 calls for service including 13 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, five alarm three each accident and assist motorist, two each intoxicated pedestrian, escort or convoy, argument, persons refuse to leave and 911 hang up.
Also, one each fight, dog disturbance, domestic, live stock on road, theft by taking laceration, utility department needed, fall, subject needs officer, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, private property, trouble unknown, shoplifter, vandalism of property, checking location, trespassing and illegal dumping/littering.
