Fifth Grader Wins Final Week of Contest

Mekia Taylor, a fifth grader at Washington Park, beat out the competition for the last week of The Monticello News 2010 football contest.
For her effort, Miss Taylor collected $25 from McIntosh State Bank. Head teller and 41-year-veteran of the bank, Dorothy McElheney made the presentation to Miss Taylor, then cashed the check for her.
lt was a tough week, when only 14 contests counted, because the Giants/Vikings. game was postponed after the roof collapsed at the Metrodome. Miss Taylor was the only one with 12 right, but nine others had 11 right. Miss Taylor was excited to win, and said it was the first time she played. She really knows her football, or she’s a lucky young lady!
