Wrestlers Enter New Season

Members of the Piedmont Academy wrestling team are learning quickly and having to take full advantage of each practice session.
Coach Darrell Young said Sunday night he was still finalizing his roster but looked to have everything in order this week.

The Mat Cougars will travel to Mt. Vernon in Atlanta today, Dec. 9, to compete along with Mill Springs and Weber beginning at 4:30 p.m. Both Varsity and middle school wrestlers will be on the mat.
This Saturday, Young will take the varsity Cougars to Statesboro for the Bulloch Academy Team Duals which begin at 9 a.m. Eight teams will be participating at the event.

The Middle School Mat Cougars and coach Dan Funt will travel to Tattnall Square Academy in Macon Saturday for a middle school tournament beginning at 9 a.m.

“We are a very young varsity team,” Coach Young said. “We do have a good group of middle school wrestlers. The numbers are continuing to grow in our program which is a positive for us.”
