Tiebreaker Counts Again in Easy Week

SUZANNE LINDSEY, KEN KINARD

Ken Kinard of a Jersey address was the winner in last week’s Monticello News football contest, correctly picking the winners in 14 of the games listed, and having the closest tie-breaker guess.

Mr. Kinard guessed 62 points would be scored in the Auburn-South Carolina game while some 73 were scored. He beat Don Johnson by one point. Mr. Johnson guessed 61 points would be scored.

Mr. Kinard collected his $25 prize from Suzanne Lindsey who was at work at Washington Park School. The sponsor for the week was Lindsey’s Machine Shop, which was run by Mrs. Lindsey’s husband, Mike, who died September 30. Mr. Lindsey enjoyed sponsoring the contest.

Mr. Kinard said he has played the contest for years, but never got good at it until this year. He was already on the honor roll five times before this win. He and his wife both play, he said, then watch the football games and root for their teams.

Besides Messrs. Kinard and Johnson, six others picked the winners in 14 games, but were further off on the tiebreaker.
Some 57 others picked 12 or 13 winners to qualify for the honor roll.

With college football seasons ending, except for a few playoffs, most of the selections this week, the final contest of the season, are pro games. This is the last week of the 2010 contest, so anybody interested in collecting $25 from McIntosh State Bank or getting on the honor roll for four tickets to the Chick-fil-A Bowl best enter.

Entries must be brought to The News office, 237 West Washington Street, or faxed to 706-468-6576, but they must reach The Monticello News office no later than tomorrow, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m.
The contest is on page 11 of today’s paper.
