Rosa Colvard Campbell
Rosa Colvard Campbell, 55, of Monticello, died November 24, 2010.
Services are planned for Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church with burial in Southview Cemetery.
Mrs. Campbell was educated in the Monroe County and Jasper County School Systems. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education, specializing in Special Education, from Georgia College and State University, and was employed as an educator in the Jasper County School System for 31 years. While there, she served as coordinator of Special Olympics, where she motivated, cared, and fought for students adn children with special needs.
She also served on many committees over the course of her career and supported education. She retired November 1, 2010. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, and served on many boards, and a member of Eastern Star Hopewell Chapter #182.
She joined Antioch Baptist Church in Forsyth at an early age and later moved her membership to Springfield Baptist Church. While a member at Springfield, she served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, member of the Pastor’s Support Group, hospitality and mother board, and was recently appointed church secretary. She became a member of the easern Star Hopewell Chapter #132 where she served as teh associate conductor. She also served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader of Brownie Troop #340. She enjoyed reading, traveling, listening to music, watching sports, and spendign time with family. She was married to Chester Lewis Campbell in 1982.
Survivors include her mother, Rosa Lee Colvard of Monticello; two daughters, Chandra Brown of Eatonton, LeMetra Dismuke of East Point; a son, Chester Danté Campbell of Monticello; a brother, Theodore Colvard, Jr. of Monticello; three grandchildren.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello, has charge of arrangements.
