Veteran’s Section Set Next Week

Next Thursday, Nov. 11, is Veteran’s Day, a day the nation set aside in 1919 to honor our veterans.

Post offices, banks, some government offices, and others will be closed for the holiday. Therefore, The Monticello News will be published one day early, and local subscribers will receive it in their mailboxes next Wednesday, Nov. 10.

In observance of the holiday, The Monticello News office will be closed. County government offices will also be closed, but the City of Monticello and Jasper County schools are not taking the holiday.
Next week’s paper will include a veteran’s section. Anyone who has not previously been featured in the veteran’s section and wants to be included should bring or e-mail their picture to The Monticello News, 237 West Washington St., Monticello, news@themonticellonews.com as soon as possible, and no later than tomorrow, Nov. 5.

Several businesses and other organizations have volunteered to sponsor the section, but more sponsors are still needed.
