Middle School Cougars Finish Undefeated

The Piedmont Academy Middle School football team put the finishing touches on an undefeated season last week with a 40-8 victory against Young American.
Coach Wes Tanner’s team compiled a perfect 6-0 record this fall.
“This was such a fun team to coach and I hope that we get to coach them for a long time and see them become a great varsity football team,” Tanner said.
“This season turned out the way it did due in large part to a great eighth grade class that made it their personal mission to turn things around from an 0-6 season two years ago to an undefeated one this time.”
In last week’s contest, Gaven Edge had a huge performance with four touchdowns while Austin Taylor added another. Hunter Knox completed a touchdown pass to Payden Cantera while Alex Parrison and Zach Beggs also contributed offensively.
Hank Strickland added a long punt return which set up a score.
“To be 6-0 is something very special for these players and it is my hope the eighth graders will build from this into varsity football and the sixth and seventh graders use it for this team next year. I am so proud of each player and I also need to say how we could not have done any of this without the great coaches who helped me.”
Assisting with the Middle School Cougars are offensive coordinator Josh Daher, defensive coordinator John Brown and wide receiver/defensive backs coach J.C. Dunagan.
