Leon H. Meadows

Leon H. Meadows, 97, of Columbus, died September 3, 2010 at Vista Care Hospice of Franciscan Woods, Columbus.

Funeral services were held at the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus on September 6, with Revs. John Meadows and Tim Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.
Mr. Meadows, son of the late Silas M. Meadows and Alabama Ketchum Meadows, was born November 2, 1912. He was retired from Swift Mills where he served for 38 years.

Mr. Meadows was a member of the Britt David Baptist Church and a 50-year member of Rose Hill Masonic Lodge, #484. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening.

Mr. Meadows was preceded in death by his wife, Louisa Cherry Meadows and a sister, Lucille Hall.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Arnold Fuller of Monticello; two granddaughters, Pam Arnold of Columbus and Nancy Arnold Wood of Monticello; a grandson, James C. Arnold, Jr. of Waycross four great-grandchildren, Delaney Wood, John C. Wood, Christillie Wood, and Caitlyn Arnold; other relatives and friends.
