MPD Charges Driver With Possession of Meth
David Allen Smith, 35, of Covington was arrested last Friday and charged with possession of meth and possession of drug related objects, according to the report of an officer with the Monticello Police Department (MPD).
After running the tag number on a suspicious vehicle the officer discovered it was expired and executed a traffic stop after which he discovered a bag of white powder in the vehicle’s ash tray that tested positive as meth, according to the warrant.
A glass pipe was also discovered in Mr. Smith’s pocket as he was being transferred into the Jasper County Jail.
During the period of August 24 through 31 the MPD reported the following additional arrests:

Jeremy Arkell Sands, 18, Hillsboro—loud music and disorderly conduct.
Oscar Carl Thomas, 62, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
Calvin Darnell Stone, 41, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
Also, during this period officers with the MPD responded to 59 calls for service including nine stopping suspicious person/vehicle, seven alarm, six juvenile complaint, two each burglary, domestic, escort or convoy, mechanical break down, theft by taking, pick up prisoner, crowd disbursement, subject needs officer, counterfeit, trouble unknown, music/noise compliant and argument.
Also, one each assist motorist, speeding auto, accident with injuries, accident w/possible injuries, hit and run, assault, discharge firearms, shoplifter and VGCSA.
During this same period the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following arrests:
Thomas Edward Johnson, 30, Mansfield—Jasper County Superior Court Bench Warrant.
Tera Nicole West, 34, Monticello—deposit account fraud.
*Matilda Garcie Wallace, 43, Monticello—endangering security interest.
*Gregory James Van Huss, 36, Monticello—probation violation.
*Early Thomas Hash, 17, Social Circle—driving while license suspended or revoked and tail light violation.
*David Randall Ramey, 42, Newborn—probation violation.
*Richard Henry Wallace, 36, Monticello—criminal trespass.
*Nathaniel Cain Womack, 26, Covington—simple assault and criminal trespass.
*Lorenzo Aragon Rodriguez, 27, Milledgeville—license violation.
*Charles Bradley Goen, 40, Monticello—stalking and burglary.
*Darrell Anthony Stowe, 40, Monticello—simple battery.
*Brian Deon Finn, 42, Conyers—abandonment of dependent child.
In addition, during this period deputies with the JCSO responded to 149 calls for service including 32 stoppings uspicious person/vehicle, 17 subject needs officer, 15 alarm, six each accident, domestic, theft by taking and pick up prisoner; five argument, four speeding auto and trouble unknown, three each burglary, mechanical break down and threatening/harassing calls.
Also, two each assist motorist, livestock on road, fire/vehicle, counterfeit, road hazard, abandoned vehicle and 911 hang up, one each fight, dog disturbance, intoxicated driver, intoxicated pedestrian, hit and run, escort or convoy, chase, look out, rape assault, child custody, discharge firearms, possible suicide, trespassing and VCGSA.
