Lady Canes Are 2-1 In Region
The Lady ‘Canes suffered their first region loss since 2007 last Thursday in a 7-3 loss to Lamar.
Athletic Director and Head Softball Coach Chris Jenkins said, “They hit the ball when they needed to and we made two mistakes in the first inning which resulted in us giving up four runs.
“We are a much younger and inexperienced team this year, but I’ve told the team on many occasions it’s the same game they have played since they were seven years old.
“The loss was disappointing, but hopefully we learned something from it and can move on.
“There’s a lot of ball left to play and we’re fortunate that we have a region tournament at the end of the season. So if we can settle down defensively and play like we’re capable of from here on out that loss shouldn’t hurt us in the long run.”
The team did defeat Northeast Macon 16-1 last Tuesday, and their record now stands at 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the region.
Also, the team was scheduled to play Baldwin at home yesterday (Sept. 1), and today they are scheduled to play Southwest Macon on the road.
