Thomas Baxter Hogan, Jr.

Thomas Baxter Hogan, Jr., 86, of Norcross, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Altus House Hospice in Atlanta.

Mr. Hogan was born in Georgetown, Ga. to the late Thomas Baxter Hogan, Sr. and Monnie Morris Hogan. He moved to the Atlanta area more than 60 years ago and was a 1953 graduate of Georgia Technical Institute with a Bachelors of Civil Engineering degree. He was a member of the Peachtree Corners Baptist Church. He was a member of the Society of Professional Engineers. His hobbies included woodworking and traveling in the RV.

Mr. Hogan worked as a Civil Engineer for Armco Steel and retired from Cherokee Culvert in Macon. Sisters, Ruth Jenness and Tommie Hogan; and brother, Charlie Crisp Hogan, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Virginia Culpepper Hogan of Norcross; children, Thomas Baxter Hogan, III and Monnie Sue Hogan, both of Norcross and Novia Hogan Lytle of Atlanta; grandchildren, Kelly Hogan of Norcross, Nicole Lytle Rej of Atlanta, and Robert Bruce Lytle, IX of Herndon, VA; and great-grandchildren, Emily Rej of Tucker, Katrina Lytle and Robert Bruce Lytle, X of Herndon, VA.

A graveside service was to be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Talmadge Cemetery in Monticello. Dr. Robert Whitmire officiated.

Pallbearers were Thomas B. Hogan, III, Monnie S. Hogan, Robert Bruce Lytle, IX, Everett Bozard, Kevin Rej, Mike Johnson, Richard Minor, and Ron Rogers.
