Louella Kelly Gantt

Louella Kelly Gantt, 93, of Monticello, died April 2, 2010.
Mrs. Kelly was born to the late Louis Kelly and Idella Kelly on June 13, 1916, in Hillsboro.

She married the late Marvin Gantt, Jr. on May 6, 1943 and the couple had 11 children.

Mrs. Gantt was employed with several companies including Georgia Pacific, Dexter Axle, and the National Forest Service.

She was a lifetime member of White Chapel C.M.E. Church, and enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her sons Levi Gantt, Marvin Gantt, Jr., and Lewis Gantt; a daughter, Annie Carrie Whidby, three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include Barron Goolsby of Atlanta; Bobbie Gantt of Hillsboro, daughters, Gloria Ann Thomas of Atlanta, Geneva Dudley of Shady Dale, Bunnist Ammons of Monticello, Idella Gantt of Barnesville, and Orlinda Bishop of Hillsboro; 22 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A service was scheduled for Wednesday, April 7 at 1 p.m. at White Chapel C.M.E. Church in Hillsboro. Rev. Cindy Causery, pastor.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
