Mary Anderson Waldrop Jones
Mary Anderson Waldrop Jones died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at Grandview Care Center in Athens.
She was born in Monticello on October 19, 1920. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth Dennis Waldrop and Kirby Jackson Waldrop, her husband Jack T. Jones; sister, Martha Ree Waldrop McAlister, and brother, George Lamar Waldrop.
Mrs. Jones moved from Monticello to Griffin, and lived there for many years. Five years ago she moved to Athens to be cared for by her niece. Mrs. Jones was known for her quick wit, her ability to laugh at any situation and her love for her family. She always kept the entire family laughing with her and oftentimes at her. She was affectionately know to her family as Manie. She enjoyed the last years of her life at Grandview.
Survivors include her youngest brother, Oscar O’Brian Waldrop of Griffin, as well as her nieces, Daisy Elizabeth McAlister Fowler of Watkinsville and Mary Caroline McAlister Harrell of Athens; her nephews, Lucious S. Waldrop of Hinesville and John T. Waldrop of Culloden, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sunday, September 13, at Lord and Stephens, EAST with Rev. Lee McNeil officiating.
