Granville Mercer Gordon, Jr.,

Granville Mercer Gordon, Jr., 69, of Jones Acres Drive, Macon, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at a Macon hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 28, in the chapel of Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. Rev. Tommy Freeman officiated.

Mr. Gordon was born January 18, 1940, and had lived in Jones County most of his life, but had spent some time in Jasper County. He was the son of the late Granville Mercer Gordon, Sr. and Emily Goodman Gordon. He honorably served his country with the United States Army and worked as a mechanic for Billy Burgamy.

Mr. Gordon is survived by his wife, Vada Gordon of Gray; daughters: Charlene Lamb of Jones County, Robbie Clements of Twiggs County and Carolyn Burdeshaw of Ivey; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Charlene Lamb at 107 Debbie Drive in Jones County.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
