Oops, wrong way

A pick-up truck makes a left turn from Greene Street onto Southern Avenue, which has recently been turned into a one-way street between the Monticello Post Office and McIntosh State Bank.
The one-way street on Southern Avenue heading north between Washington and Greene Streets was installed to make it possible for the Post Office to move the mail box to the left side of Southern so drivers could deposit mail in the box without getting out of their cars.
The city has recently added the Do Not Enter and Wrong Way signs to help everyone know the direction of travel on the street, said City Manager Bob Schwartz. Previously, there were only one way street signs. The mailbox is expected to be moved in about a month.
