Trial Results in 10 Year Sentence

A Jasper County Jury found Carey Lecell Ross guilty by of two counts of obstruction of a police officer. He was found not guilty on a charge of possession of cocaine.

In Superior Criminal Court Tuesday, Judge Hugh V. Wingfield, III, sentenced Mr. Ross to five years on each charge to follow consecutively for a total of 10 years with seven years to serve, with the remaining three years to be served on probation.

Other individuals on the Criminal Court Calendar pled guilty to charges as indicated and were sentenced as shown below:

•Gary Donald Locklear to three counts of obstruction of officers—five years probation including 12 months of Intensive Probation Supervision (IPS) and fines and fees of $1,382.

•Polly Ann Ross to DUI less safe and driving without insurance—12 months probation, 24 hours to serve, 40 hours community service, completion of drug and alcohol risk management progrma and fines and fees of $694.

•Ellis D. Ammons to obstruction of officer—six months probation and fines and fees of $594.

•Cecil Anglin to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute—10 years to be served on probation, banished from Jasper County and fines and fees of $1,832.

•Monica Rooks Bostic to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute—seven years to be served on probation and fines/fees of $1,832.

•Raymond Christian to possession of cocaine and driving under the influence of drugs—five years with one year to serve and the remainder on probation and fees and fines of $1,832.

•Damian Farrar to burglary—five years probation and fines and fees of $1,332.

•LaGavious King to criminal trespass—12 months probation and fines/fees of $294.

•Lorie Lackey to serious injury by vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs and two counts of endangering a child under 14—five years probation, 24 hours to serve, 40 hours community service, completion of risk reduction program and fines and fees of $1,382.

•Floyd Triplett, III, to possession of meth, criminal damage to property in the second degree, driving while license suspended or revoked and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer—sentenced to five years to be served on probation and fines and fees of $1,882.

•Greg Thurman to theft by receiving stolen property and forgery in the first degree—sentenced to three years to be served on probation, restitution of $162.00 and fines and fees of $765.00.

•Billy Edward Wade to manufacturing marijuana and possession of firearm by convicted felon–sentenced to five years to be served on probation, forfeit of all guns and fines and fees of $1,832.

•Nicholas M. Hall to four counts of burglary—sentenced to 10 years with five to serve and the remainder on probation, banished from Jasper County during probation and fines and fees of $1,382.

•Pamela Christian to aiding escape—sentenced to a fine of $145.

•Lisa Harper to simple battery/family violence—sentenced to six months to be served on probation and fines and fees of $344.

•Roger Parker to obstruction of officer misdemeanor—sentenced to 6 month probation to be terminated after serving three months upon the payment of fines and fees of $544.

•Megan Harris to open container violation—sentenced to six months probation and fines and fees of $694.

•Timothy Cureton to possession of cocaine—sentenced to five years to be served on probation and fines and fees of $1,882

•Donavan Clemons to obstruction of officer and suspended drivers license—sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation and fines and fees of $544.

•Walker D. Williams to driving under the influence—sentenced to 12 months probation with 72 hours to serve, 30 hours community service, completion of risk reduction program and fines and fees of $974.

•Kenneth Farmer to criminal trespass—sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, restitution of $137.80 and fines and fees of $544.

•Pamela Hall to driving under the influence less safe—sentenced to 12 months probation, 72 hours to serve, completion of risk reduction program and fine and fees of $1,010.00.

•Shannon Lackey to possession of meth—sentenced to five years to be served on probation and fines and fees of $1,007.

•Clifford Martin to possession of meth—sentenced to five years to be served on probation and fines and fees of $1,834.

•John Clifford Lackey to criminal trespass—sentenced to six months to be served on probation and fines and fees of $344.00.

•Quinterio Pitts to reckless driving, fleeing police officer and reckless conduct—sentenced to three years to be served on probation and fines and fees of $1,344.

•James Lackey to obstruction of officer—sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation and fines and fees of $544.

•Danntron K. Ammons to burglary—sentenced to five years with 60/120 days to serve and the remainder on probation and fines and fees of $1,387.

•Victoria Appling to inmates possession of drugs—sentenced to five years to be served on probation with one year under IPS and fines and fees of $1,832.

•Charles B. Leggett to statutory rape—sentenced to 10 years with two years to serve and the remainder on probation and fines and fees of $1,382.00.

Also, the following individuals failed to appear to answer charges and a bench warrant was issued for their arrest: Rebecca Palmer, Randy Lee Heath, Troy Andrews and Dimitrik Robinson.

Fifty-one other cases were continued, eight nolle prossed (prosecution dropped) and one dead docketed (not pursuing prosecution at this time).
