Jasper’s Champions Return Home

Members of the seven and eight year old Jasper County All-Star team/state champion Dixie Darlings traveled to Sumter S.C. for a double elimination tournament which started Saturday when they faced the champion team from Mississippi.

The girls got behind early, and never caught up even though they played well. They lost 13-7. Their next game was scheduled for Sunday morning, and the girls had great weather, and played great, but came in on the short end of a 15-14 score, thereby being eliminated from the tournament.

After Sunday’s game, the girls were all presented with medals for their representation of Georgia. Team members include (left to right) Destiny Cook, Jade Cole, Gracie Hunt, Mackenzie Tripp, Annie Corbin, Kenzie Abbott, Madison Abbott, O’Neil Sealy, Tayloir Lawrence, Erin Carter, Lucy Tuggle and Hailey Hooper.

The girls were accompanied to South Carolina by a large contingent of fans, and the recreation parks there were overrun with people.
