John Clifford Underwood

John Clifford Underwood, 60, of 5055 Clay Road, formerly of Hartsfield, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at his residence in Monticello.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 24, at 9 a.m. in Hartsfield Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Harrell officiating.

Casketbearers will be Brannon Underwood, David Underwood, Dale Underwood, Michael Underwood, Lamar Harrell, Darren Harrell, Dave Jesse and Marcus Colvin.

Born February 12, 1949 in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Hugh Brannon Underwood and Gladys Harrell Underwood. He was a self-employed logger and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Monticello. He was a United States Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Johns Underwood of Monticello; a son, Scott Underwood of Las Cruces, N.M.; a daughter, Amanda Boyd of Athens; two brothers, Glynn Underwood and Ronnie Underwood, all of Hartsfield; a sister, Jewell Kidder of Hartsfield; five grandchildren, Brock, Jake and Kyle Underwood, Josie and Morgan Boyd.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23,at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
