Michael Benton ‘Ben’ Tillman
Michael Benton “Ben” Tillman, 48, died Friday, June 5, 2009.
Mr. Tillman was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church. He owned and operated The Tillman House Restaurant since 1985. Mr. Tillman provided a high school senior scholarship for a Prayer Breakfast Youth every year. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and loved to garden. His father, Mack Henry Tillman, preceded him in death.
Survivors incldue his wife, Karen Tillman; son, Michael “Bubba” Tillman, daughter and son-in-law, Sammie Dee and Josh Denny, all of Monticello; grandchildren, Ethan Denny and Kagen Denny; mother, Marjorie Benton Tillman; sister and brother-in-law, Sissy and Roy Hulsey; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Nita Tillman, also all of Monticello; nieces and nephew, Krissi Hulsey Bristow, Morgan Lyn Tillman, and Will Mack Tillman; and great-niece, Sophia Bristow.
Funeral services are scheduled Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Monticello First United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery. Rev. Chris Allen and Dr. Robert Whitmire will officiate.
Pallbearers are Dennis Wocjick, Greg Mattison, Walter Fuller, Terry McMichael, Donnie Pope, Kenneth Pope, Hunter Pope, and Larry Fielding.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Jordan Funeral Home.
The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to the Georgia Sheriff’s Association Youth Homes, P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
