Armed Robbers Are Still At Large
No arrests have been made in the case of the armed robbery of the Petro Convenience Store on Frobel Street last week. However Monticello Police Chief Bud Smith said the investigation is ongoing and several good leads are being followed up on.
In the meantime, the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests for the period of May 26 through June 2:
Elizabeth Reene Ragsdill, 20, Monticello—driving on a suspended or revoked license, suspended tag and no insurance.
Amber Symone Brown, 20, Monticello—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers and probation violation.
Alray Leon Goolsby, 58, Monticello—probation violation.

Also, during this period officers with the MPD responded to 121 calls for service including 36 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 34 escort or convoy 11 foot patrol, seven subject needs officer, six alarm, four suspicious person and/or vehicle, three each crowd disbursement and trouble unknown, two each domestic and fire alarm, one each juvenile complaint, vandalism of property and accident.
During this same period the following arrests were reported by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO):
Kyle Daniel Anderson, 18, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than 1 oz.
Lyndy Clay Clark, 21, Mansfield—disorderly conduct.
Jeremy Mathew Mathis, 31, Monticello—possession of firearms by convicted felon.
Walter Larry Simpson, 46, Covington—hold for warrant at Oxford Police Department.
John Marshall Jones, 38, Covington—probation violation.
Travis Sentail Clemons, 29, Monticello—child support.
Casey Gene Gauge, 28, Conyers—probation violation.
Also, during this period deputies with the JCSO responded to 192 calls for service including 40 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 17 suspicious person and/or vehicle, 15 subject needs officer, 13 alarm, 12 escort or convoy, eight trouble unknown, five each assist motorist and pick up prisoner, and four each live stock on road and threatening/harassing calls.
Also, three each fight, possible suicide and speeding auto, two each burglary, accident, mental person and vandalism of property, one each dog disturbance, domestic, accident (deer), intoxicated driver, hit and run, fire alarm, crowd disbursement, assault, foot patrol, discharge firearms, music/noise complaint, argument and 911 hang up.
In addition, during this period the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of Jonathan Michael Tuggle, 18, of Griffin and charged him with possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
