Gene Soles

Gene Soles of Whiteville, N.C. died Friday, May 15, 2009. He was born in Columbus County, N.C., the son of Mare Hobbs Soles of Evergreen and the late Ted Eugene Soles.

Mr. Soles was the director of Columbus County Maintenance, and he owned and operatead Gene’s Heating and Air.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 19, at the Church of God. Rev. Robbie Strickland officiated; burial was in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Nanette Skipper Soles; four daughters, Beth Soles of Whiteville, Tina McLean of Little River, S.C., two sons, Darian McLean of Bladenboro, N.C. and Jonathan Nance of Whiteville, N.C.; granddaughter, Michelle McLean; two grandsons, a sister, Ann Soles Rockwell of Evergreen, N.C., and four brothers, Glenn Soles, Terry Soles, Eddie Soles and Freddie Soles, all of Whiteville, N.C.
