Lady Cougars Win Region Soccer

In only two years competing as a program, the Piedmont Academy Lady Cougars soccer team has captured a region title.
The Piedmont girls earned the honor with a 3-0 win against Furtah Prep last week. Kelly King, Aly Kinard and Jordana Pope help secure the title by scoring goals.
The state playoffs began Saturday as the Lady Cougars defeated Christian Heritage 3-0 in a home match behind a two-goal effort from Kinard. King also scored a goal as the Piedmont girls recorded their first state playoff win in the program’s short history.
“It’s been a historic season,” coach Robbie Kinard said. “We are still young with just three seniors.”
The Lady Cougars are preparing this week for the second round against Bulloch. The match will also be at home Friday at 6:30 p.m.
