Trial Set; Some Plea, Many Continued
After taking pleas much of the day Monday and Tuesday, Judge Hulane George was to be on the bench for the trial of Vernon Richard Walker who is charged with several counts of theft by taking.
Jury selection was scheduled for yesterday morning, with the trial to commence soon after. Also, there were eight other cases scheduled for trial this week. Any of which do not get tried will be moved to the next scheduled criminal trial calendar, currently scheduled for August, unless a plea bargain is reached prior to such time. The scheduled trials with charges as indicated are as follows:

•Douglas E. Sorenson—two counts of seat belt violation.
•Gary Donald Locklear—three counts of obstruction of officers, two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree and three counts of disorderly conduct.
•Matthew Bishop, Jr.—simple battery/family violence.
•Polly Ann Ross—DUI less safe and driving without insurance.
•Cecil Anglin—possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of firearm during commission of a felony.
•Deandrea Jackson—aggravated assault.
•Lorie Lackey—serious injury by vehicle, four counts of DUI drugs and two counts of endangering a child under 14.
•Floyd Triplett III—obstruction of officer, possession of methamphetamine, criminal damage to property in the second degree, driving while license suspended or revoked, driving without insurance and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.
•Randy Marcell Williams—battery.
In addition, the following individuals entered guilty pleas. The charges shown are their original charges, and they may have plead to lesser charges or less than all of the charges. Their sentences are incidated.
•Kyle Lennon Moring to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana—sentenced to one year of Intensive Probation Supervision (IPS) followed by six years of regular probation and fines and fees of $1,832.
•Brenda Mitchell Smith to criminal solicitation—sentenced to one year of IPS followed by two years of regular probation and fines and fees of $1,332.
•Markese Thurman to aggravated assault—sentenced to 12 months probation and fines and fees of $594.
•Edward Lee Williams to theft by taking—sentenced to 12 months probation and fines and fees of $469.
•Cullen M. Graham to theft by receiving stolen property—sentence not available.
•Fredrick Stone to possession of cocaine—sentenced to five years probation and fines and fees of $1,832.
•Eddie L. Brown to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute—sentenced to 12 months probation and fines and fees of $944.
•Roderick Dumas to burglary—sentenced to five years probation and fines and fees of $1,382.
•Arthur Hunter to criminal damage to property in the second degree—sentence not available.
•Oliver Jackson to obstruction of officers—sentenced to five years probation and fines and fees of $507.
•Jermaine A. Lopez to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute—sentenced to one year of IPS followed by six years of regular probation and fines and fees of $1,832.
•Cordello D. Marks to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and interference with government property—sentenced to five years probation with 60/120 days to be served in a detention center and fines and fees of $1,832.
•Nathan Peterson to criminal damage to property in the second degree—sentence not available.
•Jammie Lee Watson to three counts of burglary—sentence not available.
•Jammie Lee Watson to cruelty to animals and driving without license—sentenced to 12 months probation.
•Bradley Parker to battery/family violence—sentence not available.
•Otilio Medina to two counts of simple battery/family violence—sentence not available.
•Joseph Lee Stephenson to criminal trespass and simple battery—sentence not available.
•Bryan Robinson to battery/family violence—sentence not available.
•Doris Lynn Evans to simple battery/family violence—sentenced to 12 months probation and fines and fees of $594.
•David A. Dalton to possession of methamphetamine—sentence to five years probation and fines and fees of $1,882.
•Jared Edwards to battery/family violence—sentenced to 12 months probation, anger management classes and fines and fees of $594.
•Hiram C. Stone to battery—sentenced to 12 months probation and fines and fees of $594.
•Kristen Banister to possession of hydrocodone and possession of clonazepam—sentencing not available.
•Michael S. Adams to deposit account fraud—sentenced to 12 months probation and fines and restitution of $124.
•Calvin Stone to DUI—sentenced to 12 months probation, 40 hours community service, attend Risk Reduction Program and fines and fees of $795.
Also, the following individuals failed to appear to answer charges and a bench warrant was issued for their arrest: Jamie Leanne Blackmon, Kelly Lynn Ray, Michael Terrell, Carlos Lucas-Bautista, Dimitrik Robinson, Timothy Cureton and Johnny V. Rutherford.
Another 70 cases on the calendar were continued.
