Rossie William Jeffries, Jr.
Funeral services for Rossie William Jeffries, Jr. are scheduled today, April 16, at 1:30 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, Martin Lane, Shady Dale. Burial will be in South View Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Horton will officiate.
Mr. Jeffries was born May 23, 1950 to the parentage of the late Rossie W. Jeffries Sr. and Viola Wyatt Coooper Jeffries. He was the third of six children born to the union. He died Satturday, April 11.
Mr. Jeffries was educated in the Jasper County School System and a graduate of the class of 1968. He joined Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age. He was employed at the Jasper County Landvill for some 15 years, and was also employed with the Board fo Education as a school bus driver for 26 years. Mr. Jeffries was a member of Monticello Lodge #329.
Mr. Jeffries was a gentle “giant,” a man who loved and cared for his family with a true heart of devotion. He was a friend and neighbor who would always lend a helping hand to those around him.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rockmore Jeffries; a daughter, Tracie Rockmore; two sons, Casey Rockmore and James Rockmore; five grandchildren, Sanqueninta Barron, Sanquenish Rockmore, James Robers, Ivey Rogers, and India Rockmore, all of Monticello; five siblings, Robert Jeffries of Milledgeville, Lizzie Green, Henry Jeffries and Shirley Stevens, all of Farrar, and Louise Cooper Slacks Nash of Mansfied., and a number of other relatives and friends.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
