Robert L. Pitman

Robert Lewis “Bob” Pitman, 67, of Monticello, died December 26 at his home.

Mr. Pitman was born March 8, 1940 in Fulton County, the son of the late John Robert Pitman and the late Pearl Frances Anderson Pitman. He was a plumber by trade, and was a much-decorated Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, having received a Purple Heart and other citations and decorations.

Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Gentes of Monticello; Holly Banks of Jackson, and Tammy Bradford of Monticello; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Love and Sandra McDonald, both of Augusta, and Libby Borst of Newark, Dela., and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. at Prospect United Methodist Church in Mansfield, with the Rev. Layne Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Fullerton Memorial Cemetery in Hillsboro with military honors. His body will lay in state at his residence on Church Streeet from Friday until time for the funeral.
