Roger Brown
Funeral services for Roger Brown, 85, of Monticello, were held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Griggs Chapel A.M.E. Church in Monticello. The Rev. Melvin Henry officiated. Burial was in Campbell Crossroad Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born October 31, 1922 in Jasper County to the late Ben Brown and Florence Daugherty Brown.
He was a lifelong resident of Monticello. He was a member of Westley Chapel A.M.E. Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Brown believed in God, family, honesty and hard work.
He retired as a driver for the Department of Transportation. Upon his retirement, he spent most of his day caring for his youngest son, Ray. Mr. Brown was a humble servant of God.
A stepson, Grantt Miller, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Brown; sons and daughters, Timothy Brown, Ray Brown, Ella Walker, all of Monticello; J. Hazen Brown of Covington, Eric Brown of Conyers, Ernestine Edwards and Loraine Alexander, both of Madison, 12 grandchildren, a great-grandchild; sister, Grace Farley of Monticello; brother, Roosevelt Brown of Macon; stepchildren, Lisa Ford of Eatonton and Clarence Miller of Warner Robins.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
