Donald Dewey Hyde

Donald Dewey Hyde, 69, of Monticello, died Saturday, October 27, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Donald Hyde was born in Fulton County to the late Benjamin Banks Hyde and Cecil Lynette Chupp Hyde. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He lived in Tucker for a number of years before moving to Jasper County 17 years ago.

Mr. Hyde was of the Catholic faith but attended the Monticello First United Methodist Church. Before retirement, he was an independent insurance adjuster. He was a member of the Southern Loss Association, Organic Farmer’s Association, Georgia Beekeepers Association, and the “Old Men and the Mountain Club” in Stone Mountain.

Survivors include his children, William Hyde and Melissa Hyde of Suwanee and Michelle Blackburn of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Travis Blackburn, Brandon Blackburn, Reilly Hyde, Ansley Hyde, Daniel Hoffler, and Hunter Hoffler; brother, Benjamin Hyde of Conyers, and former wife, Nancy Volk Hyde of Duluth.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Monticello First United Methodist Church. Dr. John Brown will officiate.

The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to the Monticello First United Methodist Church, 651 College Street, Monticello, GA 31064.

Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
