JV Cougars Fall to John Milledge
While the Piedmont Academy junior varsity football team dropped a 26-14 decision to John Milledge last week, there were plenty of positives that came from the contest.
“The game was well played and we competed the whole way,” said Piedmont coach Wes Tanner.
“We just came up a little bit short.”
The JV Cougar coach said his team fell behind early but managed to battle back to make the game competitive.
One positive Tanner liked from his team was a 12-minute
touchdown drive to start the second half. The team then followed that drive up with a three-minute scoring drive.
“As tough as the game started out, we really dominated the tempo in the second half and made the game close,” Tanner said. “We really had some players step up and have a very good ball game.”
The coach credited Justin Wilson for playing well on both the offensive and defensive lines and said Seth Harvey had a stanout performane at fullback.
“Once we got our feet under us and we realized that we could play with John Milledge, we played great,” Tanner said.
“It is just unfortunate that it took us two quarters to turn on the switch and by then we just ran out of time and came up a little bit short.
”The JV Cougars will host Gatewood today, Oct. 4, at 6 p.m.
