Loraine Sauls Dumas
Loraine Sauls Dumas, 79, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, June 27 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30 at Hillsboro Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. N.L. Bellury, Rev. Steve Brock and Rev. Bobby Sauls officiated.
Mrs. Dumas was a lifelong resident of Jasper County born to the late George Grover Sauls and Sara Grace Niblett Sauls. She was an active member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church and served as church treasurer for more than 55 years. Mrs. Dumas was a founding member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church’s Outreach Ministry.
Mrs. Dumas spent most of her career in the banking and insurance business on the square in Monticello. She was a founding parent of Piedmont Academy.
After retirement, she loved working out with “the girls at the Eight Count” and friends at water aerobics. Her greatest joy came from helping people through the church ministry and Jasper County Care Corps.
Her husband, Joseph Coleman Dumas, died in 1962, and her brother, Ted Sauls, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Sidney Dumas of Macon and Scotty S. Dumas of Hillsboro; grandsons, Ben Dumas and Cole Dumas, both of Nashville, Tenn.; brothers, Bobby Sauls and James Sauls, both of Monticello; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Teddy Sauls, Scott Sauls, Jimmy Sauls, Todd Sauls, Joel Sauls, John Dumas, Jr., Frank Dumas, Jr., Jimmy Goolsby, Bobby Goolsby, Wayne Green, Preston Wynens, Ronnie Marsh, and Charles Turner. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Hillsboro Baptist Church Outreach Ministry.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Friday, June
29 at Jordan Funeral Home.
