Buford Donald Malone
Buford Donald Malone, Sr., 69, of Monticello, died Saturday, January 13, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.
Don Malone was born in Phenix City, Ala. to the late Luther Cleveland Malone and Essel Viola Braswell Malone. Before moving to Monticello 20 years ago, Mr. Malone lived in Monroe for a number of years. He was a member of the Callie Fuller Baptist Church. Before retirement, he was a warehouse supervisor for the Primerica Financial Services in Duluth.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Rogers Malone of Monticello; children, Donnie Malone, Jr. of Jefferson, Scott Malone of Good Hope, Millie Bearden of Johns Town, N.Y., Michael Byce of Monroe, Michele Bowers of Covington, and Melisia Baker of Marietta; grandchildren, April Freeman, Dana Malone, “Little” Donnie Malone, III, Michael Malone, Ashley Malone, Emily Bearden, Jacob Bearden, Jonathan Bearden, Tré Bowers, Brooke Bowers, Logan Sweat, Trent Baker, and Abigail Baker; great-grandchildren, Lilah Jane Greer, Alexis Malone and Jeremy Freeman; brothers, L.C. Malone of Douglasville and Mike Malone of Auburn; and sister, Brenda Malone Massey of Monticello.
Funeral services were held 11 at a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Callie Fuller Baptist Church in Monticello. Burial in church cemetery. Dr. Timothy Parker officiated.
Pallbearers were to be Larry Bowers, Gary Rosborough, Michael Byce, Larry Bowers, Sr., Freddie Flowers, and Harry Jones.
Jordan Funeral Home of Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Jordan Funeral Home.
