Frank Thomas

Funeral services for Frank Thomas, 60, were held Friday, Dec. 29 in the chapel of Smith & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Kings Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Horton officiated.

He died Saturday, Dec. 23 at the V.A. Hospital.
Mr. Thomas was born September 10, 1946 to the late John Thomas and Becky Lou Thomas in Jasper County where he attended public schools.

Mr. Thomas served in the U.S. Army during which he fought in the Vietnam War before receiving an honorable discharge as a SP4. His military decorations included a National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device and Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) Marksmen (M-16).

Following his military service, Mr. Thomas worked for a logging company.

His son, Terry Thomas, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Thomas; sons, Johnny Thomas, Andre Thomas, and stepson, Dominque Thomas; daughter, Lakisha Thomas; brothers, Robert Thomas, Jimmy Thomas, and Evan Chatman; sisters, Geneva Digby, Emma Lou Conwell, Kate Thomas, and Minnie Thomas; five grandchildren; devoted friend, Martha Benton; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
