Trailer Park Is Being Cleaned Up

The old Jordan Trailer Park at the intersection of Hwy. 11 South and Perimeter Road is no longer called “home” by many families, after the property changed ownership and the residents were informed of an impending closure.

Advertisements in this newspaper told residents and others that the park would be closed on October 23, and all personal belongings should be removed. Raymond Rogers, Code Enforcement Officer for Jasper County, said last week that the owners had been working well on the clean-up, requiring no action from him.

However, clean-up efforts have slowed recently, necessitating action by Mr. Rogers. He sent a letter to Russell C. Bennett, Cedar Creek Land Investment, last Friday, notifying him that the clean-up should be completed by February 1, 2007.

“Due to the condition of the remains of this property, it has been declared a health hazard, a safety hazard, and a nuisance to the community.

The clean-up is to include all solid waste on the property,” said the letter to Mr. Bennett. Mr. Rogers has received complaints about the eyesore.
