Mavis Griffeth Sidwell

Funeral services for Mavis Griffeth Sidwell, 96, were held December 14 at Apalachee Baptist Church with burial in Apalachee Cemetery. The Rev. Alan Cagle officiated.
She died December 12 in Monticello.

Mrs. Sidwell was born January 28, 1910 in Oconee County to Earl and Lizzie Carson Griffeth. She later married John C. Sidwell and they made their home in Morgan County.

She had retired from Thurmond Manufacturing where she worked for many years and was a member of Apalachee Baptist Church where she was known for providing biscuits on Sunday mornings. Her pasttimes included quilting, working in the garden, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Betty Armistead of Monticello, J.C. “C-boy” Sidwell, and Faye Jordan, both of Madison; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
