Harold Spence Allen

Harold Spencer Allen, 64, of Monticello, died Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle after a lengthy illness.

“Spence” Allen was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. His parents are the late Emory Lee Allen and Agnes Armistead Allen.

He was a member of Talmadge Baptist Church and was employed with Horton Homes of Eatonton for the past 10 years. He also worked with Enterprise Aluminum Company for 24 years and Oxford Manufacturing for 10. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing and hunting with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Peggy Culberson Allen of Monticello; sons and daughter-in-law, Jason Spencer Allen and Jody Scott
and Jennifer Allen, all of Monticello; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and James Taylor of Eatonton, Tracie and Wallace Taylor; grandchildren, Holly Taylor, Hilary Taylor, Jay Taylor, Kenneth Stone, Dillon Allen, Preston Allen, and Lexi Allen; great-grand-children, Kimberly Wimbley, Asia Wimbley, and Jacoby Reeves; brothers, Emory Allen of Monticello and Roger Allen of Jackson; sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Sammy Daniels of Covington; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 15 at Smithboro Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Talmadge Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Sauls and Rev. Al Butler will officiate.


Pallbearers are Chris Allen, Brad Mercer, Tony Way, Larry Taylor, Stanley Diaz, and Jimmy Culberson.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Thursday, Dec. 14 at Jordan Funeral Home.
