Joseph Cohen

Joseph Cohen, 92, of Albany, died Monday, Dec. 4 at Lee County Health Care in Leesburg.

Mr. Cohen was born February 28, 1914, in New York, N.Y. to the late David Cohen and Helen Jacobson Cohen. He graduated from Cornell University with a five-year degree in architecture and was the president of Albany Architects and Engineers, Inc. for more than 50 years.

Mr. Cohen received a 2nd Lt. Commission in the U.S. Army and reached the rank of captain. He served in the 88th Division, 338th Battalion and was stationed in the European Theater, fighting in several battles during World War II. He was a past president of the Temple Bani Israel.
Mr. Cohen was an avid ballroom dancer.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Davenport Cohen; four children, Sandra Woodruff of Albany, Benjamin Cohen of St. Augustine, Fla., Jo Ann Murray and husband, Rex of Temple, Tex., and Neala Morgan and husband, Dick of Monticello; several stepchildren and grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 18 at 10:45 a.m. at West View Cemetery.
