Nancy B. Kelly

Nancy Banks Kelly, 79, of Monticello, died Wednesday, November 22, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.

Visitation for friends and family will be held in the sanctuary of the Monticello Presbyterian Church on Friday, November 24, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The service will be held in the Monticello Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25. Burial will be in West View Cemetery, West View Street in Monticello.

Mrs. Kelly was born in Shady Dale. She was married to Roy R. Kelly, Jr., for 59 years. Both Mr. and Mrs. Kelly are lifelong residents of Jasper County. She was a graduate of Monticello High School in Monticello, and attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville.

Mrs. Kelly was a lifelong homemaker and volunteer in many local organizations. She was an active member of the Monticello Presbyterian Church and was the first female elder installed in that church.

Her parents, O.H. Banks and Louise Young Banks, and one sister, Harriette “Sunny” Lane preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Roy R. Kelly, Jr. of Monticello; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy R. Kelly, III and Debby S. Kelly; John Banks Kelly and Susan Kelly; Paul Hunt Kelly and Lisa Kelly, all of Monticello. Her grandchildren and their spouses include Roy R. Kelly, IV, and Allison Kelly; Sara Kelly Pace and Allen Pace; Jenny Lynn Kelly; Kimberly Kelly Gardner and Bobby Gardner; Paul Hunt Kelly, Jr., and Colt Rakes Kelly.

She had four great-grandchildren, Owen Banks Varnadoe, Lane David Varnadoe, Maci Jewel Varnadoe, and Lucille Baynes Kelly. She has two sisters and brothers-in-law, Clydie B. Jordan and Phil Jordan of Monticello, Ludy B. Peavy of Byron, and John A. “Sonny” Lane of Macon.
Pallbearers will be Dudley Horton, Don B. Kelly, Roy R. Kelly, IV, Alton Martin, Allen Pace, and Thurman L. Willis, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Monticello Presbyterian Church Elevator Fund, P.O. Box 308, Monticello, GA 31064; or Abbey Hospice, 215 Azalea Court, Social Circle, Ga. 30025.

Jordan Funeral Home of Monticello is in charge of arrangements.
