Lady Cougars End Season

The Piedmont Academy fast-pitch softball team managed to hang around for a while at the Class AA state tournament, but eventually saw its season come to an end following back-to-back losses to Bulloch and Tiftarea.

The Lady Cougars opened the Class AA state tournament with a victory against Tiftarea, but then fell to Bulloch in a winner’s bracket contest before being elimininated from additional play in a rematch with the Tiftarea Lady Panthers.

With the tournament being double elimination format, Piedmont’s season came to a close last Saturday in Dublin.

The Lady Cougars should be able to continue building the fast-pitch program next fall as this year’s team had no seniors. Six juniors from this year’s squad will return to lead Piedmont in 2007.
