Lady Cougars May Be Headed to Playoffs

Piedmont Academy’s fast-pitch softball team has one game remaining in the 2006 regular season.

The Lady Cougars appear set to finish in the top three of the region and would then begin play in the Class AA state tournament Saturday, Oct. 7, when the first two rounds would be played. The Final Four would be the following weekend.

Piedmont fell to region foe Brentwood 8-0 Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Cougars also suffered a 9-6 region setback last Thursday to Windsor.

In non-region play, Piedmont did manage to record a 9-0 victory against Nathanael Greene last Saturday in Siloam.

The final regular season game is scheduled for today against Briarwood on the road at 3:30 p.m. in Warrenton.
