Lamar Sands, Jr.

Funeral services for Lamar “Tiny” Sands, Jr., 54, were held Friday, Sept. 22 at Rock Zion C.M.E. Church with burial in South View Cemtery. The Rev. Richard Taylor officiated.

He died Monday, Sept. 18 at the North Macon Healthcare Facility.

Mr. Sands was born June 7, 1952 to the late Lamar Sands, Sr. and Carsie Mae Lloyd Sands.
He was a member of Rock Zion C.M.E. Church and was educated in the public school system of Jasper County. He was employed by Collins and Gordon Trucking Companies in Monticello.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Louis Sands, and a nephew, Ricky Sands.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Gladys Johnson Sands of Eufaula, Al.; sons, Darrell Brannon of Monticello and James Johnson of Eufaula, Al.; daughters, Shalonda R. Johnson and Tariah E. Johnson, both of Eufaula, Al.; five grandchildren; brother, Lorenzo Sands of Monticello; sisters, Lecia and Hattie Sands, both of Monticello; nephew and niece, Kerry Sands and Kerry Roach, both of Monticello; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Smith & Sons Funeral Home handled arrangements.
