Lady ‘Canes Win, then Lose
The Lady Hurricanes fast-pitch softball team won a region game against Wilkinson County Tuesday, Sept. 5, 7-5, but dropped one to GMC Tuesday, Sept. 12, 13-2.
In the loss, Shelby Britt got a hit in two at bats, and Candice Allen and Chasity Cribbs each got a hit in three at bats. Cribbs also had two RBIs.
In the win last week, Erika Bilbrey had 3 RBIs, and Amanda Peterson, Megan Kildahl, Autumn Peterson and Amanda Phipps each went one for four. Shelby Britt pitched six and a third innings, getting seven strike outs. Autumn Peterson came in and got the save in the bottom of the seventh.
The ladies were scheduled to play Twiggs County last Thursday, but the game was rained out and has been rescheduled for October 2 in Jeffersonville.
The Lady Canes have one win and one loss overall, and one win and one loss in region play.
They are set to face Glascock County on the road today, Sept.14, at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, they travel to East Laurens, then to Hancock on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Next Thursday, Sept. 21, the Lady ‘Canes play at home again, hopefully to take a second win over Wilkinson County.
