Man Is Arrested for Drugs
Peter H. LaClair of Monticello was arrested last Saturday and charged with possession of drug related objects, manufactured/distribution and selling of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, driving under the influence of drugs, and driving on an expired tag.
During a “concentrated patrol” by the state troopers in Jasper County, while conducting a license, insurance and registration check at the intersection of Hwy. 212 and Jackson Lake Road, Mr. LaClair was asked to pull off the road after the trooper observed the tag on his vehicle had expired (7-15-06).
According to reports on record, a subsequent investigation revealed a .38 caliber pistol in Mr. LaClair’s front pocket, a clear plastic pipe commonly used in smoking illegal narcotics was located in his left sock, and a key box under the driver’s seat of his car containing approximately four small individual baggies containing what appeared to be crystal meth.
At this point in the investigation, Mr. LaClair was transported to the Jasper County Sheriff’s office to be processed into the county jail.
Other arrests reported by the JCSO during the period of July 21 through August 7 included the following:

•Kathy Diane Gilmore, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
•Patricia Annette Thompson, Monticello—simple battery.
•Ronecia Shawntavia James, Monticello—simple battery.
•Patricia Chase McJunkins, Atlanta—Magistrate Court Bench Warrant.
•Willie Lewis Thurman, III, Monticello—parole violation.
•Artagus Manning, Monticello—parole violation.
•William Archie Johnson, Covington—probation violation.
Also, during the week of July 31 through August 7, deputies with the JCSO served nine warrants and 28 civil processes. They conducted 14 traffic stops resulting in five citations and 10 warnings. In addition, deputies responded to 105 calls for service as follows:
Sixteen subject needs officer, 11 traffic accident, eight assist motorist/other, five assist motorist/keys, four threatening/harassing phone calls; seven each activated alarm, road hazard; six each suspicious person/vehicle, transport; three each escort, trespassing; two each burglary, domestic, livestock/carcass in roadway, theft, mental person, 4-wheeler, juvenile complaint, 911 hang up, fire/alarm; one each dog complaint, prowler, speeding auto, fight, intoxicated driver, assist EMS, welfare check, child custody, suicide/attempt, vandalism, assist utility.
