Orian Underwood Moore
Orian Underwood Moore, Jr., 79, of Monticello died Wednesday, May 17.
He was born on March 30, 1927 in DeKalb County to the late Orian and Ophelia Moore. He worked as an electrician with Bagby Elevator and Electric Co. for more than 30 years and was a 55-year member of IBEW 613. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Stockbridge Masonic Lodge 691, and served as Worshipful Master and Treasurer for 28 years. He was a Sunday School teacher, RA Leader, and deacon at First Baptist Church, Stockbridge, and was an active member of Monticello Baptist Church.
He resided at Jackson Lake for 18 years since retirement. He was an avid fisherman and golfer.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Kirby.
Survivors include his wife and loving companion of 50 years, Edna Rainwater Moore; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ramona Moore of Spring, Texas; four sisters, May Mayo and husband Jamie, Betty Hovers and husband Franklin, Margaret Gilbert and husband John, and Sue Simpson and husband Hugh; grandchildren Lindsey, Rachel, and Merritt Moore of Spring, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at Monticello Baptist Church, 334 West Green Street, Monticello, with burial in West View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 19, from 6-8 pm at Jordan Funeral Home.
