Two Charged with Theft by Taking
Brian Keith Maxwell of Social Circle and Larry Joseph Fuller of Loganville were arrested last week and charged with theft by taking, a felony.
A deputy from the Jasper County Sheriff’s office was responding to a call from a residence on Meadowlark Drive reporting a theft had occurred and that a loud truck had sped from the scene, and according to the deputy’s report, while on Jackson Lake Road, he observed a blue pickup traveling in the oncoming lane, and also noticed it was very loud.
The deputy then turned and followed the truck and observed it had no tag light, was not displaying a tag and had two occupants. Once the truck turned left on Hwy. 212 toward Newton County, the deputy stopped it.
After conflicting answers from Mr. Maxwell and Mr. Fuller as to where they were going and where they had come from, and the ownership of the items on the back of the truck, that deputy left the suspects with another deputy who had reinforced him. The first deputy relocated to the residence on Meadowlark Drive where the call had originated from.
Upon arrival he spoke to Scott Ellington and requested he follow him to the location of the traffic stop and attempt to identify the stolen items. After arrival, Mr. Ellington identified as his property an air compressor, four chrome rims, two catalytic converters, and three Cooper tires, all lying in the bed of the truck Mr. Maxwell and Mr. Fuller were occupying.
Mr. Maxwell and Mr. Fuller were then placed under arrest and transported the JCSO. Their pickup was towed, and the stolen items were returned to their owner.
Also, last Friday, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Donny Lee Ranow of a Macon address, charging him with financial identity fraud, a felony.

This came as a result of a complaint filed with the JCSO in January by Kerry Bunn. Mr. Bunn stated that in early October 2005, he received a past due notice on an account he had no knowledge of. After looking at the contract for the account, Mr. Bunn said he was able to confirm that it was not his signature on it.
Mr. Bunn also stated that after he discovered that Mr. Ranow had opened this account using his name, he discovered more contracts and papers were signed using his name, all of which were turned over to an investigator at the JCSO.
